Four DUI arrests.
Read that again. Four.
Each one a separate decision, by a man who had already been deported once and come back illegally, to get behind the wheel drunk.
After the fourth, ICE asked the jail to hold him.
The state of California said no.
Less than a year later, that man walked into a home and stabbed three people to death.
A grandmother.
A mother.
A two-week-old baby.
The sheriff’s explanation, in his own words: it was “just a DUI.”
A two-week-old infant did not get to learn to walk because a fourth DUI was treated as just.
He should be alive.
God bless every American who is done with “just.”
