Japanese Manners
In a Japanese elementary school, lunch works like this. 🍚 No cafeteria. No lunch lady. The children put on white coats and hats, carry the food to their own classroom, and serve every classmate themselves. They eat together. Nobody starts until everyone has a tray. Then they clear it, wipe the desks, and sweep the room. No janitor. Six-year-olds do this. Every day. For nine years. Foreign educators come to observe and leave asking the same question: how do you teach responsibility to a whole country? You do not teach it. You hand a child a ladle. πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅βœ¨
