The baby was two weeks old.
Two. Weeks.
He had a name. He had a crib. He had a grandmother who loved him.
By Thursday afternoon, his grandmother was dead, his mother was dead, and he was dead too.
The man with the knife had been deported once. He came back.
He was arrested four times in California for drunk driving.
After the fourth time, federal immigration asked the jail to hold him.
California said no.
A two-week-old American baby is in a casket because of the word “no.”
He should be alive.
His mother should be alive.
His grandmother should be alive.
God bless every American who refuses to call this normal.
