One hand draws, one hand writes, and the tea has gone cold.
If you smiled even once, a coffee helps the next story get made.

There is a place in Japan where wild monkeys soak in hot springs while snow falls on their heads. Jigokudani Monkey Park, Nagano Prefecture. About 160 Japanese macaques live in these steep volcanic valleys. Every winter, visitors freeze on the wooden walkway and watch. They climb down from the cliffs. They slide into the natural onsen. They sit shoulder to shoulder in the steaming water, eyes half-closed, faces pink with warmth, snowflakes melting on their fur. The park opened in 1964 so people could watch them safely without disturbing the troop. A mother holds her baby close in the bath. An old male yawns and sinks deeper until only his head shows above the surface. Tourists from across the ocean stand on the wooden walkway, breath fogging in the minus-ten air, laughing softly because nobody planned for this to feel so human. No fences between you and wonder. Just steam, silence, and monkeys who chose warmth the same way you would. Cold cheeks. A full heart. You carry both back down the path.
