Commentary
A mother left a parking lot by a jogging trail and did not come home. Her little girl is three. The asphalt still holds the morning chill. Fairfax police say the wounds were numerous and unspeakable. The man they charged had already been in federal hands in El Paso in April 2024, then released.
That is the gap. A legal worker waits in a vinyl chair for a work-permit stamp that can take months. A caught-and-released teenager walked into Great Falls. Caught. Unlocked. Home. The trail did not get a vote.
Ask the officials who signed the 2024 release: look that three-year-old in the eye and explain why the border was a revolving door instead of a last door.
