California moves to ban shock gloves ICE plans to use

Twenty million for gloves that stop a fight. Sacramento wants them illegal on federal hands.

Summary

  • The New York Post reports California Democrats on Monday passed Assembly Bill 2760, now headed to Gov. Gavin Newsom, to ban wearable electroshock devices for any law enforcement in the state, including federal agencies.
  • Assemblymember LaShae Sharp-Collins introduced the last-minute bill after news that the federal government would allocate $20 million for the gloves ICE plans to use.
  • She called ICE the least trained and most lawless law enforcement. An ICE official told the New York Times the gloves hurt and are meant as a step below lethal force.
  • Last year California enacted a ban on face masks for ICE agents. A federal judge later overruled that law.

Commentary

A dock worker still tapes a split knuckle and wants the man in the van to go home with both eyes, not a funeral flag. He did not vote so Sacramento could strip the tool that keeps an officer's kid from inheriting a hallway.

That is the gap. Twenty million. A glove instead of a gun. A state bill aimed at a federal badge. The honest dad already paid the overtime. The legislature paid the lecture.

Look every working father who still waits for a safe shift change in the eye and answer this: if a judge already killed the mask ban, why is the glove the next costume?

If a judge already killed the ICE mask ban, why is the glove the next target?

Twenty million for a glove that hurts instead of a bullet. Sacramento heard ICE and reached for a veto.

I carried less-lethal so a room would empty without a casket. That is not cruelty. It is math.

AB 2760 hits federal officers on California dirt. The last mask ban died in federal court. Read it.

Allied ports still let a federal badge carry the tool the job requires. A state lecture is not a warrant.

Sharp-Collins. Newsom's desk. $20 million. Last year's mask ban already overruled. File the pair.

I still clock out smelling diesel. I want the officer to go home. The glove is how.

A tool that stops a fight is how a kid keeps a parent. Ban the riot, not the glove.

Cartels do not pass assembly bills. They count which states disarm the badge.

Post printed AB 2760, $20 million, and a dead mask ban. Argue those nouns.

Sign nothing that disarms ICE. The hallway is not a committee.
