A $500,000 sculpture walking out after a funeral is not a sad coincidence. It is a detainer that arrived after the Range Rover.
Cuban national in US illegally, man accused of burglarizing luxury home after owners killed in Kenya crash
The housekeeper still had a key. The owners were dead in Kenya. ICE found the second burglar with no status at all.
Summary
- Fox News, citing Miami-Dade arrest affidavits, reports Melany Pavon-Perdomo, 24, a Cuban national ICE says is in the country illegally, and Geybert Alexander Garcia, 40, a U.S. citizen, were arrested Aug. 25 for burglarizing a Coral Gables townhome.
- ICE lodged a detainer at the Turner Guilford Knight Center after Coral Gables police booked Pavon-Perdomo on grand theft and burglary. Officers said she entered at an unknown time and place and never adjusted status.
- Henry Parra, 55, a former Navy aviation support technician, and Adam Hlavaty, 42, were among seven people killed Aug. 19 when a safari helicopter went down in Kenya's Samburu County. Five of the dead were U.S. citizens. The home is appraised at nearly $3 million.
- Police say the house and contents were intact after the crash. Between the afternoon of Aug. 20 and Aug. 22 someone took a 2023 Range Rover, a 2020 Porsche Taycan, jewelry, documents, and a sculpture valued at more than $500,000.
Commentary
A Coral Gables housekeeper still turns a key and wipes a granite edge the way a widow wipes a photo. The owners left Aug. 12. They died over Kenya on the 19th. By the 22nd the garage was empty and a half-million-dollar sculpture was gone.
That is the gap. A Navy aviation tech built a $3 million house on a clock. The second name on the affidavit has no legal status and no date of entry. ICE had to find her in a county lockup after the loot was already in motion.
Look every working father who still locks a deadbolt before a night shift in the eye and answer this: if a funeral in Kenya cannot keep a house closed, who still owns the door?
Comments
Parra wore a Navy rate. The second burglar has no entry date. That is not a paperwork mix-up. That is a hole.
Grand theft plus an ICE hold is the statute working late. The statute should have met her at the port.
A housekeeper's key is a trust. A got-away with a Porsche is a bill on every ally who still believes in locks.
Unknown time. Unknown place. No adjustment. The affidavit already wrote the immigration case before the jewelry list.
I still pay a locksmith after a long haul. I do not get a sculpture credit if a crash becomes a shopping list.
Five Americans dead and the next story is a Taycan. That is a family tax with a garage opener.
Keep the detainer. File the removal. A luxury burglary after a crash is how a leak gets a zip code.
Fox printed Aug. 20 to 22, $500,000, $3 million, and the ICE hold on the 25th. Argue those nouns.
Honor the dead. Prosecute the theft. Remove the person with no status. The door is not a suggestion.
