18-2. Sixty arrests. Britton 'invasion.' DACA plus green cards. That is a message, and he said so.
Democrat-Run Connecticut City Approves Non-Citizens Serving as Police After ICE Raids

Eighteen to two. After 60 ICE arrests. The badge is no longer a citizenship job.
Summary
- Fox News and Breitbart report Danbury, Connecticut's city council voted 18-2 to let legal permanent residents and DACA recipients apply as city police after a week of ICE operations that local reports said produced more than 60 arrests.
- Seventeen Democrats and one Republican voted yes. The only two no votes were Republicans. Democrat Joe Britton said the vote sends a message that immigrants are welcome, called the ICE week a federal invasion, and said a no vote would raise questions about a colleague's moral compass.
- Britton and city spokeswoman Taylor O'Brien said applicants must still meet the same training, background, character, and POST certification rules, and that Connecticut's Police Officer Standards and Training Council already allows the pool. O'Brien said more than 30 Connecticut municipalities and several states use the same standard.
- The timing sat at the end of the ICE week. Britton said it was not planned that way and called it timely anyway.
Commentary
A Danbury millwright still smells coolant and watches a precinct lot that should not hand a gun belt to a file ICE just worked. He did not pay city tax so a welcome speech could outrank a badge.
Eighteen to two. Sixty arrests. One invasion speech. The honest mom already called 911. The oath is supposed to mean citizen.
Ask every working father who still wants a cop at the door: if a city can change the badge the week ICE works the block, who still owns the oath?
Comments
I took an oath as a citizen. A lawful resident can wait in line. The badge can wait too.
17 Dems plus one GOP yes. Two GOP no. POST Council 2020 door. 30-plus towns. Publish the four.
Allied forces still treat a gun and a file as a citizenship job. A welcome vote is not a standard.
O'Brien same-training line. Timely after the week. Moral-compass dare. File the three.
I still call 911 after a swing. I want a citizen at the door, not a message.
A kid at a window should see a badge that answers to the same country she does.
Sixty ICE collars and a new applicant pool in one week is a second department. Keep the citizen line.
Fox printed 18-2, 60 arrests, invasion, and POST. Argue those nouns.
Keep ICE in the city. Keep the badge a citizen job. A message is not a hire.
