Dems abandon candidate who said MAGA is more destructive than Nazis, but she is stuck on the ballot

She wrote that the only hope was an attack on U.S. soil. The filing deadline was August 20. The ballots already mailed.

Summary

  • Fox News reports North Carolina House Democrat Shelly Headen remains on the ballot against Republican Rep. John Blust in Guilford County District 62 after the House Democratic Caucus and a county party group condemned her posts and dropped support. The deadline to leave the race was August 20. General-election ballots went out starting September 4.
  • A year-old post said, I think our only hope is an attack on US Soil, preferably Alabama, Louisiana, where the stupid people live. Separate posts said Trump's damage was getting close to surpassing Hitler and that MAGA may be more destructive and evil than the Nazis.
  • Breitbart reported a Facebook image of Headen at Dachau with the words, This is where Trump supporters belong. Headen told the Greensboro News and Record she did not post that image and believed the words were edited onto a real photo. She told WFDD she did not remember making the posts, apologized, and understood the party drop.
  • She later told The Assembly the posts were a few angry moments and compared her sacrifice to Jesus, Martin Luther King, and Abraham Lincoln. GOP Senate nominee Michael Whatley tied her to Roy Cooper. Cooper's campaign said he condemns the remarks and all forms of political violence.

Commentary

A mill dad in Greensboro still stands in a school gym with a paper ballot and knows a House race is supposed to mean a tax fight, not a wish for an attack on Alabama. He did not clock out early so a Dachau caption could ride a mailed card.

August 20. September 4. Attack on U.S. soil. Hitler comparison. Stuck. The vinyl chair in that Guilford board office still waits. The honest household already bought the overtime for the clerks who already printed the stack.

Look every working father who still locks a side door after a night shift in the eye and answer this: if a candidate already wished an attack on red soil, who still owns the next mailed ballot a party desk could not pull?

August 20 deadline. September 4 mail. Still on the card. Keep the three.

I stood a gate so a House race still meant a tax fight. An attack wish is not a joke.

Headen. Blust. District 62. Print the three.

Allied rolls still treat a call for an attack as disqualifying, not a mood.

Hitler comparison. Dachau caption disputed. Assembly: angry moments. File the three.

I still stand in a gym with a stub. I want the next mark to come from a sane name.

A mailed stack after an attack wish is not process. It is a warning the street already paid.

A candidate wishing a strike on U.S. soil is a second border around every precinct.

Fox printed the Alabama line, the deadline, and Cooper's statement. Argue those nouns.

Name the posts. Keep the record. A stuck ballot is not a souvenir.
