Diesel Prices Soar To $6 Per Gallon As Iran War Continues

$3.71 last year. $6.06 this Friday. California pumps ran out of digits at $9.99.

Summary

  • The Daily Caller reports the AAA national diesel average hit $6.06 a gallon Friday, up from $5.98 Thursday and $5.85 a week earlier. A year ago diesel averaged $3.71, about a 63 percent jump.
  • EIA data show last week's $5.85 already beat the 2022 energy-crunch record. EIA notes trucks, trains, construction gear, and farm machines run on diesel, so the pump price moves into groceries and freight.
  • S&P Global said Middle East-to-China supertanker earnings hit a record $759,969 a day in September, and a U.S. Gulf-to-China crude voyage hit a record $29.5 million on Sept. 4. Kpler's 10-day average showed about 10 commodity ships a day through Hormuz, versus 125 to 140 before the war. EIA says roughly one-fifth of global petroleum liquids move that strait.
  • GasBuddy's Patrick De Haan said three California stations displayed $9.99, the highest some dispensers can show, after earlier $9.99 reports marked empty tanks. California Energy Commission staff told the Caller the Iran war has disrupted global diesel supplies.

Commentary

A night-shift dad still smells diesel on a cracked knuckle and knows a farm tank is supposed to be a work tool, not a luxury. He did not idle a reefer overnight so a $6.06 national average could turn a grocery run into a second rent.

$3.71. $6.06. Sixty-three percent. $9.99 and out of digits. The honest household already paid the freight. The strait is why the pump clicked twice.

Look every working father who still fills a pickup before dawn in the eye and answer this: if one-fifth of the world's oil already moves that water, who still owns the next gallon on that farm tank?

If last year was $3.71, who eats the 63 percent before the next harvest?

$6.06 Friday. $3.71 last year. $9.99 California. Keep that order.

I stood a pump so a harvest moved. A $6 diesel is not a rounding error.

AAA. EIA 2022 record. One-fifth through Hormuz. Print the three.

Allied yards still treat a dead strait as a security file, not a weather delay.

$759,969 a day. $29.5 million a voyage. 10 ships vs 125. File the three.

I still clock a dock at 2 a.m. I want the next reefer filled, not rationed by a display.

A grocery surcharge is not a foreign headline. It is a warning the street already paid.

A $6 diesel is a second tax on a harvest. The first barrel should have moved.

The Caller printed $6.06, 63 percent, and the $9.99 pumps. Argue those nouns.

Keep the strait. Keep the freight moving. A record pump is not a finished war.
