A shop steward in Youngstown still keeps a photo of a grandfather who worked with grease in the lines and voted like a man who thought the law was the law. He does not need a candidate to invent that man's heart.
That is the gap. Vance named Sharia as a civilizational mismatch with a Midwestern Democrat his Papaw would recognize. El-Sayed answered by pointing at the Second Lady instead of the statute. That is not an argument. It is a dodge with a smirk.
Ask every voter in a Michigan shop: if a Senate candidate will not debate the law, and goes after the wife instead, who is he running to represent?
