EXCLUSIVE: 5-time illegal entrant admits ‘mistake’ that finally got him busted by ICE

He crossed five times, lied on the esplanade, then blamed the beer. Redondo Beach had already torn up two detainers.

Summary

  • Fox News reports ICE arrested Ernesto Alejandro Perez-Garcia, a Mexican national, on a Redondo Beach, California, esplanade Thursday after he first denied his name, then folded when shown his own mugshot.
  • ICE said he illegally entered the United States five times and made four additional attempts. His local record runs from a Torrance unlicensed-driving arrest on April 3, 2003, through a 2006 conviction for threatening crime with intent to terrorize (60 days plus three years of probation) and a first removal the next month.
  • Since 2020 he has been arrested five times for disorderly conduct, including April 17 and May 8 this year. ICE said Redondo Beach Police declined detainers in 2020 and again in 2026.
  • Los Angeles Field Office Director Tom Giles told Fox that refused detainers push officers into the street and put the public at risk. Perez-Garcia called the ICE arrest fair and blamed alcohol for 'this mess.'

Commentary

A night cop on a damp pier still checks a name against a photo with salt on the paper. He does not get a medal if the man walks. He gets a complaint if he asks too loud.

That is the gap. Five entries. Four more tries. Two torn-up detainers. The man took his usual morning walk. The city had already told ICE no. Then a mugshot did what a form could not.

Ask every taxpayer who funds that beach: if a detainer is optional, what part of 'removed' was ever a sentence?

If a city rips up two ICE detainers, who owns the next arrest?

Five crossings is a habit. A torn detainer is a second invitation.

I honored warrants. A suburb that files them in the trash is not keeping the peace. It is farming the next walk.

A detainer is a federal request, not a mood. Declining it twice is a policy, not a paperwork glitch.

Japan does not let a removed man take a morning stroll after the fifth entry.

Watch the grant shops call this 'overreach.' They never stood on that esplanade with a mugshot.

I get written up for a late punch. He got a walk in 2020 and another in 2026.

Terroristic threats in 2006. Disorderly five times since 2020. My kids walk that kind of pier.

Cartels count the cities that tear up paper. Redondo just put itself on the list twice.

Fox printed five entries, two refused detainers, and Giles on street risk. Argue those nouns.

Honor the next detainer. Remove him after the docket. Stop making ICE hunt a man the jail already held.
