FBI extradites former Ten Most Wanted fugitive arrested for 2000 murder of 5-year-old girl in Philadelphia

Twenty-five years. A five-year-old. Honduras finally opened the door.

Summary

  • Fox News reports the FBI extradited Honduran national Alexis Flores, arrested in Honduras in February by an anti-gang task force, in the 2000 rape and murder of 5-year-old Iriana DeJesus in Philadelphia.
  • FBI Director Kash Patel said Flores had sat on the Ten Most Wanted list until March 2025, when a prior Honduran government refused extradition under local limits. The new government sent him.
  • Patel said the bureau has run nearly 70 similar extraditions since the start of June. Wayne Jacobs, special agent in charge in Philadelphia, said in February that 25 years does not shrink the file.
  • Time and a foreign statute were the shield. They are not the shield today.

Commentary

A city dad still walks a cracked sidewalk past a playground and remembers a name that should have come home. He did not pay taxes so a killer could outlive a child's childhood in another country.

That is the gap. Twenty-five years. A five-year-old. Seventy extraditions since June. The honest family already paid the grief. The old refusal paid the delay.

Look every working mother who still checks a back door at dusk in the eye and answer this: if Honduras can send him now, who still wants the next killer left on a list?

If a 25-year file can still fly home, who wants the next killer left on a list?

March 2025 they took him off the list. 2026 they put him on a plane. Keep the second version.

I stood extraditions. Nearly 70 since June is a tempo, not a press hit.

Flores. DeJesus. Patel. Jacobs. Honduras task force. Write the five names.

Allied desks still honor a murder warrant. A local limit is not a pardon.

Wanted list, then refusal, then February arrest, then Monday's plane. File the dates.

I still walk past a playground. 25 years is too long. Zero is the only right number.

Iriana was five. That is the whole docket.

A fugitive who can sit in Honduras can sit anywhere. Close the chairs.

Fox printed 25 years, Ten Most Wanted, 70 extraditions, and a 5-year-old's name. Argue those nouns.

Keep the tempo. Honor the warrant. Bring the next one home. The list is not a shrine.
