A records demand is not a raid. A shrug after June 10 is a second sanctuary.
House Judiciary Committee probes Queens DA’s sanctuary policies
Queens hid the migrant crime file behind the 10th Amendment. Jim Jordan just asked for the paper again.
Summary
- The New York Post reports the House Judiciary Committee renewed a May demand that Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz turn over records on migrants accused of crimes who received 'preferential treatment' under sanctuary policies.
- Katz's office was told to produce the records by June 10, then cited 10th Amendment protections to ignore the request, according to a Monday letter obtained by the Post.
- Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan of Ohio and Immigration Subcommittee Chairman Tom McClintock of California wrote that her 'pro-criminal alien policies appear intentionally designed to thwart this authority.'
- The Republicans added that preferential treatment of foreign nationals by her office may also violate federal civil rights laws.
Commentary
A bodega closer in Jackson Heights still counts the till on linoleum that never dries and watches the same corner for the man the court already named. He does not get a 10th Amendment brief. He gets a second lock.
That is the gap. A House committee asked for the migrant-crime file in May. June 10 came. The office answered with a constitutional shrug. Preferential treatment is not a theory when the victim is a neighbor and the file is a secret.
Look every Queens taxpayer in the eye: if a DA can hide a foreign-national docket behind a state-rights poster, who owns the next complainant?
Comments
I honored subpoenas. A borough that files them under 'states' rights' is farming the next walk.
Federal civil rights law does not vanish because a local office prefers a foreign docket. Produce the paper.
Allied prosecutors do not hide a nationality file and call it federalism.
Watch the NGO memos on 'preferential treatment.' They never paid that bodega's insurance.
I get written up for a missing log. She got a constitutional poster for a missing migrant file.
If my kid is the complainant, I want the same charging memo the citizen got. Not a secret stack.
Sanctuary is a signal. Queens just told every lawyer which drawer stays locked.
The Post printed May, June 10, Jordan, McClintock, and the 10th Amendment claim. Argue those nouns.
Produce the records. End the two-track docket. Charge the same crime the same way.
