A sheriff's deputy in a county lot still wipes gravel off a knee and runs a name before the next DUI line. He does not need a seminar. He needs a 287(g) that lets him finish the stop.
That is the gap. One thousand two hundred twenty-six in Atlanta. Seventy in a child-exploitation net. Officers ate a 1,300% jump in vehicle attacks and an 8,000% jump in death threats and still brought them in without a riot. The old model left the jail door as the only handshake.
Look every parent in those two states in the eye: if local badges can ID a predator at a checkpoint, who decided that was the part of 1996 worth starving?
