ICE arrests Peruvian national accused of illegally voting in 2024 election as DHS cites similar cases

Wichita still counts a citizen's ballot as one. She certified citizenship, voted, then told agents she was not a citizen.

Summary

  • Fox News reports Homeland Security Investigations arrested Mariana Alexandra Dewey, a Peruvian lawful permanent resident, in Wichita on Sept. 1 after DHS said she unlawfully voted in the Nov. 5, 2024, general election in Sedgwick County, Kansas.
  • DHS said election records show she submitted a Kansas voter registration and cast a provisional ballot after certifying, under penalty of perjury, that she was a U.S. citizen. In a later interview she acknowledged she was a permanent resident, not a citizen, and admitted voting.
  • DHS said she later pleaded guilty to disorderly election conduct under Kansas law. Secretary Markwayne Mullin said, 'If even one noncitizen votes, that steals the voice of a U.S. citizen,' and vowed investigation, prosecution, and removal.
  • DHS tied the arrest to a wider crackdown, citing recent cases involving noncitizens from Colombia, Slovakia, Australia, Mexico, and Mauritania, plus four noncitizens charged in New Jersey for illegal voting or false citizenship claims.

Commentary

A Sedgwick County dad still wipes grease off a lunch-break thumb and signs his name like the oath still means one man, one vote. He did not clock overtime so a green-card neighbor could certify a lie at the table and cancel him.

Sept. 1 arrest. Nov. 5 ballot. One guilty plea. The honest household already paid the registration fee. The stolen voice was written in her own hand.

Look every working father who still waits in a vinyl poll-site chair in the eye and answer this: if a permanent resident can swear citizenship and walk, who still owns the next honest count in that county?

If she admitted she was not a citizen, why was the ballot ever accepted as a citizen's?

Sept. 1 Wichita. Nov. 5 ballot. Guilty plea. Keep that order.

I stood a line so a citizen kept the only vote. A green card is not a ballot.

Perjury certification. Provisional ballot. Disorderly election conduct. Print the three.

Allied rolls still treat a citizenship oath as a crime scene, not a paperwork mix-up.

Mullin. HSI. New Jersey four. Colombia to Mauritania. File the chain.

I still punch a dock at 2 a.m. I want my vote left alone, not canceled by a lie.

A stolen voice is not a clerical error. It is a warning the street already paid.

A false citizenship oath is a second border around a precinct table. The first statute should have been enough.

Fox printed Sept. 1, Sedgwick, and Mullin's line. Argue those nouns.

Keep the prosecutions. Keep the removals. A poll book is not a welcome desk.
