ICE Deports Cuban Communist Agent Who Spied on Dissidents for Decades

He planned the last birthday party. Then ICE walked him out of Miami International.

Summary

  • Breitbart reports ICE said Wednesday it removed Fernando Armando Valdes Perez, 61, a Cuban with Guatemalan dual citizenship who had lived in Kendall, Florida, after he concealed Castro-regime intelligence work to obtain a Green Card.
  • Investigators said he was a Cuban intelligence asset tasked from the mid-1990s with infiltrating exile and dissident circles in Latin America and the United States. ICE, FBI Miami, and CBP arrested him July 10 at Miami International Airport in an administrative immigration action. He left the United States on August 7. ICE did not say whether the plane went to Cuba or a third country.
  • ERO Miami Field Office Director Matthew Elliston said people who hide foreign-intelligence ties and exploit immigration benefits threaten the system and national security.
  • The Miami Herald found he had gained the confidence of late anti-communist activist Luis Posada Carriles, organized Posada's last birthday party, and appeared in the 2018 obituary. Lee County records and a Kendall hunting and fishing license plus a cigar company sat at the same address four months before the arrest.

Commentary

A Hialeah baker still dusts flour off a cracked wrist and locks a shop that used to host exile talk after dark. He did not pay rent so a mid-1990s handler could sit in the room.

July 10. August 7. Mid-1990s. The honest dad already paid the card. The guest list already had a spy.

Ask every working father who still trusts a neighbor with a spare key: if a birthday party can hide a handler, who still wants the next Green Card unchecked?

July 10 airport. August 7 plane. Mid-1990s tasking. That is a file, not a rumor.

I stood a gate so a badge would mean a check. Fraud on a card is a removal.

Valdes Perez. 61. Kendall. Elliston. Dual Cuba-Guatemala. Publish the five.

Allied desks still treat an exile-circle plant as an attack on the host. A party is not cover.

Posada last birthday. 2018 obituary. Cigar company. Hunting license. File the four.

I still lock a bakery that used to host the old men. I want the handler on the plane.

A spare key should not sit with a mid-1990s asset. Check the card, then fly him.

A Green Card built on a lie is a second passport for Havana. The first interview should have caught it.

Breitbart printed July 10, August 7, mid-1990s, and Kendall. Argue those nouns.

Keep ERO on the fraud. Name the destination next time. A spy is not a neighbor.
