ICE has arrested 380 Haitian illegal immigrants in Springfield, Ohio: Mullin

Three hundred eighty arrests in one Ohio city. The TPS clock already ran out. The planes are the next line.

Summary

  • The Washington Examiner reports Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said Friday in Cincinnati that ICE has arrested 380 Haitian citizens in Springfield, Ohio, after temporary protected status ended last month.
  • Roughly 350,000 Haitians lost that protection nationwide and those who remain without a new status are illegally present. Mullin told local law enforcement and ICE officials the city would keep pushing and that people should go home to rebuild Haiti.
  • A representative of the Haitian Community Help and Support Center in Springfield said two weeks earlier that 29 Haitians had been arrested of an estimated 15,000 Haitian residents. The 380 figure is more than 10 times that earlier local estimate.
  • Steve Bannon said Friday that at 170 to 200 people a plane, one plane a week instead of one a month would deport about 10,000 this year. He said hundreds of thousands of Haitians remain in the United States.

Commentary

A Springfield night welder still smells slag and watches a street that should not be a waiting room after a status clock hits zero. He did not pay the mill so a lapsed card could own the next shift.

Three hundred eighty. Twenty-nine. Fifteen thousand. The honest dad already paid the overtime. The plane is the first honest count.

Look every working father who still locks a truck at dawn in the eye and answer this: if 380 is the first tally, who still wants the next month uncounted?

If Springfield already logged 380 arrests after TPS ended, who still wants the next month uncounted?

380 in Springfield. TPS gone last month. 350,000 nationwide. Keep the flights weekly.

I stood a ramp so a stamp would stick. One plane a week beats one a month.

Mullin Cincinnati Friday. Local group said 29 of 15,000. Publish both counts.

Allied cities still treat a lapsed protection as a ticket home. A sidewalk is not a status.

170 to 200 a hull. 10,000 a year if the cadence holds. File the three.

I still clock a press at 2 a.m. I want the next lapsed card on a manifest, not in my bay.

A city of 15,000 guests is not a rumor. It is a roster. Keep the detainers.

A lapsed TPS pool is a second border. The first expired month should have been enough.

The Examiner printed 380, 350,000, 29, and 15,000. Argue those nouns.

Keep the 380. Raise the weekly flights. A visitor whose protection ended is not a neighbor.
