A night-shift dad still smells diesel on a turnout jacket and knows a CDL is supposed to be a license, not a souvenir from a statehouse that never asked for a country. He did not pay the fuel levy so a trooper's widow would inherit a crash file.
Four dead in Indiana. Three in Florida. A newlywed couple in Oregon. A Pennsylvania trooper in July. The honest household already paid the insurance. The vinyl booth at the truck-stop still waits while a state printer keeps stamping.
Look every working father who still shares a two-lane with a 40-ton trailer in the eye and answer this: if ICE had to print a tipline after the funerals, who still owns the next CDL that state already signed?

I stood a line so a license still meant a test. A CDL is not a participation trophy.
