Italian Teen Girl Nearly Killed by Propeller on Migrant Smuggler Boat

Fourteen men. An 85-horsepower prop. A 17-year-old on a family swim. The boat slowed, looked, and ran.

Summary

  • Breitbart, citing Italian local media, reports a speedboat carrying 14 male migrants from Algeria ran at full speed through a marked swimming area on Sardinia's southern coast on Aug. 16 and struck a 17-year-old holidaymaker.
  • The girl was hit by the hull and by the propeller of the boat's 85-horsepower engine, lost consciousness, and was pulled out by her boyfriend. An air ambulance landed on the beach. About ten days later L'Unione Sarda reported she had left intensive care.
  • After the strike the boat ran to a nearby beach. Police rounded up everyone aboard, including suspected smuggler Hamed Elhoucine Alouache, 28, an Algerian who appeared in court on Aug. 20. He was first charged with facilitating illegal migration, then with aggravated assault.
  • New footage and the boyfriend's account say the crew slowed, looked at the victim, then fled while bathers waved them down. Locals say smuggler boats have cut through crowded swim water several times this summer.

Commentary

A Sardinia father still tastes salt on a cracked lip and watches a swim-line float the way a lifeguard watches a clock. He did not vote for an 85-horsepower prop to treat a family cove like a landing strip.

That is the gap. Fourteen men. A marked swimming area. A boat that looked and ran. The honest dad pays the beach tax. The girl paid with an ICU bed.

Look every working father who still puts a teenager in the water in the eye and answer this: if a smuggler can slow down, stare, and leave, who still owns the swim line?

A marked swim area is a law. A full-speed landing is a choice. Charge the choice.

I ran a small boat. You feel an 85-horse hit. You do not get to call it unnoticed.

Facilitating plus aggravated assault is the right stack. Keep the footage in the file.

Allied holiday coasts already lost this argument. A Sardinia cove is a warning with a propeller.

Watch who said they did not see her after the boat slowed. The pause is the evidence.

My one week off is that water. I do not share it with a landing run.

A 17-year-old on a family swim is not collateral. That is a family line with a scar.

Sardinia is a route, not a surprise. Intercept offshore. Stop using the swim line as a dock.

Breitbart printed Aug. 16, 14 men, 85 horsepower, Aug. 20 court, and the stare-and-run tape. Argue those nouns.

Hold the smuggler. Harden the cove. A beach flag is not a suggestion.
