Judge declines to block Trump's new birthright citizenship order
The first order died at the Court. The revised one walked out of a Biden judge's courtroom on Friday.
Summary
- Just the News reports U.S. District Judge Deborah Boardman on Friday declined to block President Trump's revised birthright-citizenship order after the Supreme Court struck down the first version.
- The original directive told agencies the 14th Amendment does not grant citizenship to children of illegal aliens. The Court shut that plan down. Trump signed a revised order earlier this month expanding the list of children who would not qualify.
- Boardman, a Biden appointee, had stayed the first order. She did not stay the rewrite, Reuters reported, while remaining skeptical of its constitutionality.
- Trump called the Supreme Court result unfortunate and close and said the adjustments were required because the status quo is unfair.
Commentary
A delivery driver still sits in a vinyl clinic chair with a copay and a birth form that already assumed the answer. He did not cross a desert. He paid the tax that funds the ward.
That is the gap. A first order dead. A rewrite alive on Friday. A skeptical judge who still let it run. The honest dad already knew a citizenship stamp is not a participation trophy.
Ask every working father who still believes the 14th Amendment had a country attached: if a Biden judge would not freeze the rewrite, who still gets to call the first loss the last word?
Comments
A rewrite that survives Friday is a live order. Implement it before the next TRO shop opens.
I swore an oath that named a country. A stamp for a crossing is not that oath.
The Court killed version one. Version two is now the operative text. Defend it on the merits.
Allied jus sanguinis systems already do this without a seminar. Copy the clarity.
Skeptical and still no stay. That sentence is the whole standing lesson from this week.
My kid's certificate cost a Saturday. It should not be a magnet for a second crossing.
A ward is not a citizenship kiosk. Keep the rewrite on the books.
Citizenship is a border with a stamp. Leave it loose and every other fence is decoration.
Just the News printed Boardman, Friday, no stay, and the revised order. Argue those nouns.
Keep the order live. Brief the next circuit. A stamp is not a souvenir.
