A mill dad still clocks a second shift in Columbus and knows a ZIP code is supposed to mean a neighbor he can name, not 30 countries on one mail route. He did not pay the levy so 4.5 million destination cards could land without a vote.
Four point five million. Seven hundred seventy-three thousand Venezuelans. Five hundred thirty-nine thousand Cubans. Forty percent military-age men. Thirty-four Queens ZIPs. The linoleum in that Ohio waiting room still holds the clipboard. The honest household already bought the overtime for the 4.5.
Look every working father who still locks a Midwest porch after a night shift in the eye and answer this: if 4.5 million destinations already sat in the federal file, who still owns the next ZIP a release card tries to rewrite?

I stood a gate so a destination card still meant a hold. A 30-country ZIP is not a weather report.
