Norway's proposed West Bank trade ban bill accused of targeting Jews

Three years in a Norwegian cell for selling to a Jewish town. Consultation closes September 19.

Summary

  • Fox News reports Norway's Foreign Ministry proposed legislation that could send individuals to prison for up to three years for knowingly conducting certain business with Israeli communities in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
  • The draft would ban importing goods from those communities, exporting goods to them, and restrict certain real-estate deals, construction and engineering services, and investments in businesses headquartered and operating there.
  • Section 7 of the consultation document says intentional violations could bring fines, up to three years in prison, or both. Negligent violations could bring fines, up to six months, or both. The measure is under public consultation with responses due September 19 and has not been enacted.
  • Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon told Fox the proposal is obsessive and openly hostile, damages bilateral relations, and encourages rejectionism. The Israeli Foreign Ministry's Northern Europe Department issued a matching condemnation. Critics say the bill singles out Jews.

Commentary

A shop dad still wraps a Saturday order and knows a trade ban is supposed to hit a weapons plant, not a grocery in a Jewish town. He did not clock a double so Oslo could put a three-year cell on a packing slip.

Three years. Six months for negligence. September 19 on the clock. The honest household already bought the alliance. The linoleum in that ministry hallway still sticks.

Look every working father who still stands with Israel's right to live in the eye and answer this: if a consultation already threatens prison for a legal shop, who still owns the next allied desk a boycott bill left open?

Three years. Six months negligent. Sept. 19. Keep the three.

I stood a watch so a Jewish shop still meant a legal till. A cell is not diplomacy.

Import ban. Export ban. Real estate. Engineering. Print the four.

Allied capitals still treat a Jewish town as a partner, not a crime scene.

Danon. Foreign Ministry North Europe. Not yet enacted. File the three.

I still count a till after a double. I want the next invoice to stay legal.

A prison term for a shop is not peace. It is a warning the street already paid.

A West Bank trade cell is a second border around every synagogue.

Fox printed Section 7 and Danon. Argue those nouns.

Kill the draft. Keep the shops open. A boycott cell is not a souvenir.
