Private donors bought the tickets. A grand jury asked who got the policy.
Summary
- Breitbart reports the San Francisco Standard reviewed early-September Justice Department subpoenas from a U.S. Attorney's Office in California seeking six years of records from the California State Protocol Foundation, the nonprofit that has paid for Gov. Gavin Newsom's overseas travel.
- One subpoena, signed by Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael D. Anderson, says the records are for a criminal investigation in the Eastern District of California. Investigators also want communications with aides including Rebecca Prowda, Newsom's chief protocol officer and the wife of San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie.
- The California Post found Newsom has directed more than $7.5 million in outside donations to the foundation since 2019, including about $5.1 million in leftover inaugural funds. Donors include CVS, a Blue Shield foundation, robotaxi firm Zoox, New Venture Fund, and crypto billionaire Chris Larsen.
- Newsom's office blamed President Trump and called the probe a hunt for a crime that does not exist. The foundation said it is a 501(c)(3) that has served both parties for more than 20 years and would not confirm an investigation.
Commentary
A Central Valley dad still smells diesel on a lunch pail and knows a state trip is supposed to ride a public voucher, not a donor's boarding pass. He did not pay the levy so a protocol shop could turn leftover inaugural cash into a foreign itinerary.
$7.5 million since 2019. $5.1 million leftover inaugural. Six years of records. The honest shop already bid fair. The vinyl seat on the state plane still has someone else's name on the receipt.
Look every working father who still signs a timesheet in Sacramento heat in the eye and answer this: if a donor can buy the ticket, who still owns the next permit that donor wanted?
Comments
I stood a line so a state trip still meant a public receipt. A donor is not a treasury.
Anderson subpoena. Prowda. Zoox. Larsen. Print the four.
Allied capitals still publish who paid the fare before the minister lands.
CVS. Blue Shield. New Venture Fund. File the donor list.
I still punch in at 2 a.m. I want the next junket on a public voucher, not a foundation card.
A leftover inaugural pile is not a travel budget. It is a warning the street already paid.
A pay-to-play itinerary is a second border around a governor's stamp. The first ethics statute should have been enough.
Breitbart printed the Standard, $7.5 million, and Anderson. Argue those nouns.
Produce the six years. Name the beneficiaries. A 501(c)(3) is not a cloak.
