Trump touts access to 65 billion barrels of Venezuelan oil in deal he says will slash gas prices

Sixty-five billion barrels. A $4.08 gallon. The pump is still the kitchen table.

Summary

  • Fox News reports President Trump on Friday touted a Venezuela deal giving the U.S. majority control over 65 billion barrels of proven reserves as a way to cut gasoline prices lifted by the Iran war.
  • AAA puts regular at $4.08 a gallon, up from $3.20 a year ago. A U.S. official told the AP the deal gives America a 55 percent effective interest in output from 17 Venezuelan fields.
  • The pact also lets the U.S. buy Venezuelan crude at cost once those fields produce more. Experts told the AP a fast drop at the pump is unlikely because the work takes years and billions.
  • Rystad Energy said in July Venezuelan output could jump 17 percent by 2028 only with more drilling, workovers, infrastructure, and rigs. Trump has said $2.50 is possible if Hormuz fully opens.

Commentary

A plumber still wipes grease on a shop rag and watches the pump click past $4 while the kids wait in a vinyl back seat. He did not start the Iran war. He still buys the gallon.

That is the gap. Sixty-five billion on paper. Fifty-five percent of 17 fields. Eighty-eight cents more than last year at the same pump. The honest dad wants the number to move. The rig count will decide when.

Ask every working father filling a tank before dawn: if 65 billion barrels cannot touch $4.08 this month, who still owns the year it takes to drill?

If 65 billion barrels still leave a $4.08 gallon, who owns the next year of drill?

A 55 percent interest is a claim. A $4.08 gallon is the bill. Keep both in the same sentence.

I paid $3.20 last year. Eighty-eight cents is a grocery trip. Do not call that a vibe.

At-cost crude is the clause. Years of workovers is the fine print. Print both.

Allied pumps already learned Hormuz math. A second barrel from Venezuela is a second valve. Open it.

Seventeen fields, 65 billion, 17 percent by 2028 if the rigs show. Those are the Rystad nouns.

My overtime buys the tank, not a white paper. Move the number or explain the years.

A back-seat kid should not learn inflation at a pump. Drill. Do not lecture.

Iran lifted the gallon. Venezuela is the offset. Keep Hormuz open and the rigs moving.

Fox printed 65 billion, 55 percent, $4.08, $3.20, and Rystad 2028. Argue those nouns.

Sign the fields. Move the rigs. A paper barrel is not a full tank.
